Several Russian attack drones crossed into Polish airspace during massive nighttime attack on Ukraine, prompting an immediate military response, Poland’s Operational Command reported on X on Sept. 10.

Multiple drones violated the country’s airspace in what it called “an unprecedented act of aggression”.

“This is a real threat to the safety of our citizens,” the official statement read.

Polish forces initiated defensive procedures, tracked dozens of aerial objects, and successfully shot down several drones that entered Polish territory. Military units are now locating and securing debris from the downed UAVs.

Officials assured the public that the situation is under control and that both Polish and allied forces remain on high alert.

As a precaution, four Polish airports — Warsaw Chopin, Warsaw-Modlin, Rzeszów-Jasionka, and Lublin — were temporarily shut down due to airspace threats.
