President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said July 29 that one outcome of his meeting with Trump on July 28 was the expected visit of the envoys to Kyiv within the next two weeks.
Zelenskyy said he wants to discuss in detail with Witkoff
and Kushner ideas for resuming trilateral Ukraine–U.S.–Russia peace talks, and
that he wants them to see the situation in Ukraine firsthand. The U.S.–led
search for a peace deal that would be acceptable to both Moscow and Kyiv has
stalled since the start of the Iran war.
Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Office of the President, said Ukraine had been expecting Witkoff and Kushner shortly after Orthodox Easter on April 12.
