Ukraine seeks India’s support in returning children abducted by Russia

Ukraine appealed to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to assist in the return of Ukrainian children forcibly deported to Russia, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told in an interview with The Times of India on Oct. 28.
He highlighted that India could bring attention to the issue of returning the children at the G20 summit - as reportedly 19,500 Ukrainian children were deported by Russian forces to the aggressor state.
Modi could also personally call Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on this matter.
“Prime Minister Modi could use his influence and tell Putin directly: free 1,000 children, and I’ll return them to Ukraine," Zelenskyy said.
"This is a real, actionable step—Putin has taken tens of thousands [of children]. Let Modi bring back a thousand.”
Should each influential leader, like Modi, help return 1,000 children, Ukraine would be able to recover all those deported, the Ukrainian president believes.
