Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy invited MPs from his governing Servant of the People party for a detailed conversation about the progress of the war and pressing governance issues, Ukrainska Pravda reported on Sept. 16, citing informed parliamentarians.

The 90-minute session at the President’s Office in Kyiv drew about 150 lawmakers, party spokesperson Yulia Paliychuk confirmed.

Most notably, Zelenskyy reportedly warned those present that “Tough decisions will have to be made” if the situation on the battlefield deteriorates. The president said that as long as Ukrainian forces hold their positions, Kyiv can expect reasonable terms for a potential ceasefire agreement. Final decisions, his aides noted, will be made by the Ukrainian parliament (Verkhovna Rada) and the government.

Lawmakers and Zelenskyy also discussed state aid for internally displaced persons, the operation of the civil service under wartime conditions, international security guarantees for Ukraine, and the public’s readiness for a peace process.
