Sources in law enforcement told U.P. that Yermak continued to pressure security officials under the President’s Office following the publication of the first parts of the Midas high-profile corruption investigation.
“Ali Baba is holding meetings and giving orders to law enforcement agencies to persecute and keep persecuting NABU detectives and SAP prosecutors," Klymenko said at one of the conferences.
"This is not normal.”
Ali Baba is not Yermak’s codename on the Mindich tapes. The nickname is used by detectives and prosecutors themselves as an internal reference to the head of the President’s Office.
UP wrote that in political circles, those referring to Andrii Yermak have for “many years” used the shorthand AB, based on his initials (Andrii Yermak's patronymic in Borysovych - ed.)
According to sources close to the Presidential Office, after the release of the Midas investigation, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy summoned the heads of NABU and SAP for a meeting.
However, according to a senior official familiar with the meeting, “the conversation did not work out.”
Sources in law enforcement told the outlet that immediately after the failed discussion, Yermak once again ordered security agencies to prepare charges against Oleksandr Klymenko.
On Nov. 18, Ukrainska Pravda reported that key figures close to Zelenskyy, following the explosive Midas revelations, have advised him to dismiss Yermak.
"A 'coalition of the determined' has formed within the Servant of the People party and is threatening to leave the faction unless the head of the Presidential Office is removed," the journalists wrote.
On Nov. 20, several media outlets wrote that during a meeting with the Servant of the People faction, the president made it clear he does not intend to dismiss him.
MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak said, citing his sources, that Yermak attempted to persuade the faction to vote for the dismissal of faction head Davyd Arakhamia.
