President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Ukrainian soldiers on Infantry Day, which is marked annually, in his post on Telegram on May 6.

Zelenskyy emphasized that infantry units hold the line at the most difficult parts of the front.

“Today is the day of the warriors who uphold Ukraine’s positions and the Ukrainian state," he wrote.

"The Ukrainian flag is raised wherever a Ukrainian infantry steps. At the most difficult parts of the front, it is always our infantry troops — holding the line, launching assaults, stopping the enemy, and defending our homeland. Assault and mountain assault units are the backbone of Ukraine’s Armed Forces.”

Zelenskyy thanked the soldiers for defending Ukraine.

“Ukraine stands because the infantry stands," he concluded.

"Happy Infantry Day, warriors! Thank you for your strength, resilience, and daily fight. We are proud of you!”
