“We agreed that another meeting will take place within 10 days. Most likely, again in Geneva. In my view, the fact that the meeting took place at all is positive,” he said.
Zelenskyy said Ukraine’s responses to the most difficult issues are ready and its priorities clearly defined. Kyiv is prepared for talks at the leaders’ level, which he described as potentially decisive. A prisoner exchange could also take place in the near future.
“We believe real opportunities to end the war with dignity remain. The world’s ability to put pressure on the aggressor can significantly help ensure that reliable peace replaces war,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram. “We expect that in the near future, in February, it will be possible to organize another round of negotiations and that this round could be truly productive.”
The latest round of trilateral talks between Ukraine, the United States and Russia concluded in Geneva on Feb. 18.
Zelenskyy said the discussions were difficult, with progress achieved primarily on military issues. The sides agreed on mechanisms to monitor a ceasefire with U.S. participation.
Axios reported that negotiations had stalled due to Russia’s position. At the same time, U.S. presidential envoy Steve Witkoff said the meetings had led to significant progress.
Head of the Presidential Office Kyrylo Budanov said the Geneva talks were challenging but important.
“Another round of negotiations in Geneva has been completed. The conversation was not easy, but it was important. Together with the team, we are preparing for the next steps — very soon. We will endure,” he wrote.
Head of the Russian delegation Vladimir Medinsky described the discussions as “businesslike.”
On Feb. 19, Zelenskyy said he had scheduled a special meeting on Feb. 20 with the negotiating team that returned from Geneva to discuss next steps.
