Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on G7 countries to increase pressure on Russia and provide Ukraine with more air defense systems following another massive Russian attack, he said in a video address on June 15.

Russia is showing the world its intentions to continue waging war, the head of state emphasized, and a response is needed.

"It is very important that there is a response from the Group of Seven (G7) countries, now gathering for a summit, and that it is decisive and meaningful: more pressure on the aggressor, more help to Ukraine with air defense, primarily with anti-ballistic systems," the president's address read.

Overnight on June 15, the Russian forces attacked Kyiv with drones and missiles. At least five people were killed and 25 injured.

According to the Kyiv City State Administration, emergency rescue services are operating at approximately 50 locations across nearly all districts. There are direct hits on residential buildings and infrastructure facilities. In particular, Russia launched a double-tap strike on an ancient historical and architectural monument, Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, sparking a fire in the Dormition Cathedral.

Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studios and Mystetskyi Arsenal museum complex were also attacked.

As a result of the strike, 140,000 families in Kyiv were left without electricity.
