Ukrainian President visits Kharkiv after deadly Russian attack

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Kharkiv a day after a significant deadly Russian attack to convene a meeting regarding the operational situation in the oblast and preparations for the heating season, as stated in his post on Telegram on May 24.

The situation in the frontline town of Vovchansk, the restoration of the damaged power system, and the provision of housing for the region’s internally displaced persons (IDPs) will also be the focus of President Zelenskyy’s meetings.

Russian strikes on Kharkiv and oblast on May 23

Russia launched a devastating missile attack on Kharkiv and the cities of Zolochiv and Lyubotyn in Kharkiv Oblast, killing seven people and injuring several others.

At least 15 strikes were reported.

Seven people killed in Kharkiv were employees of a printing house, presumably Vivat. They were at their workplaces at the time of the attack.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that Russian forces targeted the city’s transport infrastructure and a municipal unit vital for the city's life support systems.
