Ukraine will focus on the implementation of “green” projects during its post-war reconstruction, and is ready to become one of the European hubs of modern “green” energy, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said onJan. 9.
“We have to decide what the generation in Ukraine should be, what the independent energy generation in Europe should be in the future,” Zelenskyy said during a meeting with Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for the European Green Deal, Frans Timmermans, in Kyiv.
“Because we’ll win this war, but the neighborhood with Russia will remain,” Zelenskyy noted.
“That’s why the European Union must be independent from any Russian decisions. Here, we see ourselves as a reliable partner in the ‘green’ energy.”
The Ukrainian president also thanked Timmermans for an EU initiative to launch a strategic partnership between Ukraine and the European Union in the field of renewable gasses.
Earlier, Kyiv and Washington announced a pilot project to build a small modular reactor in Ukraine to produce ecologically clean hydrogen and ammonia.
