U.S. actor Mark Hamill, best known for his role of Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars film franchise, on Oct. 2 dedicated a tweet to Ukrainians who bravely defend their country.
In particular, he published a poster symbolizing Ukrainian resistance to the brutal aggressor and wrote “May the Force be with you” in Ukrainian.
The poster shows a large spaceship reminiscent of the Imperial II-type star destroyer from the cult movie universe and symbolizing Russia, as well as a tiny blue and yellow drone that, despite its size, is determinedly advancing on its large enemy.
Hamill was clearly drawing a parallel with the spirit of Star Wars and expressing support for the Ukrainian people, who are also fighting against a ruthless and powerful empire.
Hamill does more than just tweet in support of Ukraine, however. He recently become the ambassador of the UNITED24 platform, which will raise money for Ukraine’s Army of Drones project.
“He is the first ambassador to help raise funds to support our defenders, the Drone Army,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a Facebook post on Sept. 29.
“This is a difficult, yet very important mission.”
