Russia launched a full-scale war on the territory of Ukraine at 0500 on Feb. 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin, in an address announcing the attack, called it a special military operation in Ukraine. Russia then launched missile attacks on Ukrainian cities.

Putin said Moscow's plans do not include the occupation of Ukraine, and that the Russian Federation would strive for its “demilitarization and denazification.”

However, the scale of the military actions against Ukraine indicates Putin may intend to occupy large parts of Ukraine.
