Ukrainian border guards stopped a Russian assault in Donetsk Oblast, the State Border Guard Service (DPSU) reported on Telegram on Feb. 9.
The department said that the Russians tried to squeeze themselves into an area covered by Ukrainian firing positions in small tactical groups.
“For this, the enemy even introduced a reserve into the battle, but to no avail,” the report reads.
“The enemy infantry was stopped by border guards-mortars. The attackers reduced the offensive pace and lay down, and due to constant fire, they retreated.”
Five invaders were killed and 13 were wounded as a result of the successful Ukrainian defense.
The General Staff reported that about 910 Russian soldiers were eliminated in Ukraine in the past 24 hours. The total personnel losses of the Russian Federation in the war have exceeded 135,000 soldiers.
