Russia's Bryansk hit by Ukrainian drones, power knocked out

Parts of Bryansk city and the surrounding Bryansk Oblast in Russia lost electricity and heating after Ukrainian drone attacks targeted energy infrastructure, including a major substation, Russian regional governor Alexander Bogomaz and Telegram channels reported overnight into Feb. 16.
The outages affected five municipalities and portions of Bryansk proper, Bogomaz said, following a more than 12-hour mass drone assault. Russia’s air defenses claimed to have destroyed over 170 fixed-wing drones during the operation.
Telegram channel Baza published photos of dark streets in the city, while Exilenova+ reported multiple strikes on the Novobryanskaya 750 kV substation and shared videos showing blackouts across the region.
Separately on Feb. 15, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said air defenses downed 18 drones approaching the Russian capital from morning onward.
Bogomaz reported 120 drones destroyed over Bryansk Oblast from the morning.
Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed that between 8 a.m. and noon Kyiv time, air defenses intercepted and destroyed 102 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over the Bryansk, Kaluga, Tula, and Moscow oblasts, with three headed toward Moscow.
