Russian forces are attempting to advance towards the boundaries of Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine’s General Staff said in a Facebook post on Aug. 31.

Enemy artillery – both barreled and rocket – attacked the towns of Kramatorsk, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and their surrounding areas, targeting at least 25 settlements in the region.

Attempted tactical Russian advances towards Bakhmut and Mariinka were repelled, forcing Moscow’s troops to withdraw. Kodema, near Bakhmut, remains hotly contested.
