Suspected drone strike ignites Russia's Kuibyshev oil refinery in Samara

Kuibyshev oil refinery in Samara, Russia, caught fire overnight following a suspected drone attack, Astra Telegram channel reported on June 10.

Monitoring groups reported that multiple sources of ignition were recorded at the plant.

Samara Oblast residents wrote about explosions audible in the area. Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev announced a missile threat in Oblast.

Kuibyshev refinery is one of the largest oil industry enterprises in Samara Oblast and is part of the Rosneft company. The plant produces gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, solvents, and a total of over 30 types of petroleum products. Its capacity is 7 million tons of oil per year.

In August 2025, Kuibyshev refinery suspended operations after Ukrainian Defense Forces drone attack targeted the AVT-4 primary oil refining unit.
