At 10:45 a.m., State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) announced that firefighters extinguished the blaze inside the school building, publishing photographs of the blackened facade and blown-out rooms.
At 10:30 a.m., Kyiv City Police confirmed that no casualties or injuries were sustained in the attack. At the exact moment of the impact, more than 100 students and approximately 60 teachers and school personnel were secured inside the building's underground bomb shelter.
Police investigators noted that the direct UAV strike severely compromised the facade of the academic block at the third-floor level, instantly sparking an interior fire.
Kyiv City Military Administration (KMVA) stated that emergency rescue crews were dispatched to the scene to verify potential injuries at 9:27 a.m. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that the Russian drone directly struck the school building, triggering the blaze while students were sheltering below ground.
Overnight Assault and Nationwide Drone Wave
Russian forces subjected the capital to sustained drone attacks overnight into Oct. 1. In addition to the Solomianskyi District, strike damage and falling debris were documented in the Obolonskyi and Pecherskyi districts. Fires erupted inside an apartment residential building, a commercial warehouse, and an open parking area, injuring one civilian.
Overnight into Oct. 1, Russian forces launched a total of 107 combat drones of various types across Ukraine. Ukrainian defense monitoring recorded enemy impacts at 11 separate operational sites, alongside falling debris from intercepted UAVs across four locations.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
