Russian ballistic missiles and drones damaged energy infrastructure in Kyiv overnight, leaving 8,000 households without electricity, energy operator DTEK reported on Sept. 30.
According to DTEK, emergency electrical crews quickly reconnected service to 8,000 capital households, with restoration operations continuing at damaged utility sites throughout the morning.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy reported at 10 a.m. that Russian aerial bombardments caused localized power outages across Kyiv, Kyiv Oblast, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Sumy, and Kharkiv oblasts. Repair teams are scheduled to commence physical restoration works as soon as local security conditions permit.
The energy ministry clarified that rolling blackout schedules are not projected for implementation today, though officials urged consumers to shift power-intensive appliance usage to daytime off-peak hours between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The strike marks Russia’s second consecutive overnight ballistic barrage against the Ukrainian capital following a mass attack on Sept. 29. Powerful explosions detonated across Kyiv and surrounding suburban communities as air defense units engaged incoming targets.
The overnight strike killed two people in Kyiv, sparking fires and inflicting structural damage across four city districts.
In the northern suburban town of Vyshhorod, an aerial strike killed a child and injured three other civilians. Kyiv Oblast Military Administration confirmed property destruction across three administrative districts within the oblast.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
