Russian invasion forces have shelled Kherson Oblast 54 times in the last day, killing two and injuring six, the region’s governor Yaroslav Yanushevych reported on Telegram on Dec. 18.

The Russians attacked civilian areas with artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, mortars, tank fire and snipers, Yanushevych wrote.

Residential neighbourhoods of the recently liberated city of Kherson were among those under fire. A hospital, private houses and residential buildings were damaged there, the governor said.

As a result of attacks, three people were killed and six received injuries of varying severity.

Since retreating from right-bank Kherson Oblast on Nov. 11, Russian invading troops have been constantly shelling the liberated part of the southern Ukrainian oblast, which lies to the west of the Dnipro River.

On Dec. 17, the Russian invasion forces shelled a humanitarian aid headquarters in the village of Stepanivka in Kherson Oblast. A woman died and another two people were injured in the attack.
