Ukraine unveils new tactical reconnaissance drone
Ukraine has unveiled its new Kharkiv-made Sirko UAV, a fixed-wing tactical reconnaissance drone, Ukrainian defense news outlet ArmyInform reported on May 2.
Ihor Krynychko, the chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Skyassist Research and Production Company LLC, said the UAV can collect intelligence information, providing constant video communication with the operator at a distance of up to 30 kilometers, and also collect data up to 50 kilometers away in offline mode.
The device is equipped with four 4K cameras, is fully automated, and can fly along a pre-planned route.
The drone features are as follows:
• 93 cm wingspan;
• weight — 1.37 kilograms;
• can cover up to 130-140 kilometers at an altitude of about 1,000 meters;
• can fly for up to one-and-a-half hours, depending on weather conditions.
According to the manufacturers, the drone is made of a polymer material that is completely radio-transparent, i.e. enemy electronic warfare means cannot spot it at all, or will mistake it for a bird when it is in radio silence mode.
In addition, the drone’s cast body allows to be assembled on a production line, ensuring it can be mass produced.
“What sets Sirko apart from other well-known UAVs is that its operators can control it from a shelter, such as a dugout, placing the antenna and masts at a distance from a person’s location,” the developers said.
Krynychko added that the company is at the stage of signing a state agreement for the supply of these complexes, in particular with the Defense Ministry. Currently, the company can assemble up to 1,000 such UAVs per month.
