Ukrainian defenders continue to threaten enemy positions on the Kinburn Split, destroying three pieces of Russian equipment in the past day, the press secretary for Ukraine’s southern forces, Natalia Humeniuk, said on national television on March 3.
Humeniuk said that the Ukrainian army is working on the Kinburn Split "quite carefully and quite efficiently."
"We have again eliminated three units of military equipment the enemy used for attacking. That's why Russians are moving closer to the split isthmus with the mainland in Kherson Oblast, where the positions are not so suited for (hitting) our positions, because their weapons lack the range for that," she said.
The Kinburn Split is a narrow strip of land between the Black Sea and the Dnipro-Buh estuary. It lies partly in Mykolaiv Oblast (it is the only part of that oblast occupied by the Russians) and Kherson Oblast. At its closest point it is only 3.6 kilometers from the coastal town of Ochakiv in Mykolaiv Oblast.
