US announces $2.6 billion Ukraine aid package

The United States will provide Ukraine with $2.6 billion in additional security assistance, focusing on artillery, HIMARS, and anti-tank munitions, U.S. Department of Defense announced in a message on its website on April 4.

According to the Pentagon, the aid package includes $500 million in military aid from DoD stockpiles, as well as assistance from Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) for $2.1 billion, which provides for direct purchases of weapons from manufacturers.
The Pentagon part of the package includes ammunition for HIMARS Multiple Launch Rocket Systems, artillery shells, anti-tank systems, small arms, vehicles for transporting heavy equipment, and other items. The USAI portion contains air defense systems, artillery and tank munitions, mortar systems, missiles, and anti-tank systems.
The announcement included the following breakdown of items Ukraine will be getting:
● Additional munitions for National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS);
● Nine anti-UAV 30mm gun trucks;
● 10 mobile c-UAS laser-guided rocket systems;
● Three air surveillance radars;
● 30mm and 23mm anti-aircraft ammunition;
● 130mm and 122mm artillery rounds;
● 122mm Grad MLRS rockets;
● Rocket launchers and ammunition;
● 120mm and 81mm mortar systems;
● 120mm, 81mm, and 60mm mortar rounds;
● 120mm tank ammunition;
● Javelin anti-armor systems;
● Anti-armor rockets;
● Precision aerial munitions;
● Approximately 3,600 small arms and more than 23,000,000 rounds of small arms ammunition;
● Eight heavy fuel trucks and 105 fuel trailers;
● Armored bridging systems;
● Four logistics support vehicles;
● Secure communications equipment;
● SATCOM terminals and services;
● Funding for training, maintenance, and operational sustainment.
On March 20, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced a $350 million military aid package to Ukraine. It included more ammunition for HIMARS, howitzers, Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, HARM high-velocity anti-radar missiles, anti-tank weapons, and river boats.
