Ukraine testing AI-powered drones to counter Shahed drones attacks — military expert

This statement comes amid a new Russian record in October, as the aggressor state deployed 2,023 Shahed-type and other unspecified drones against civilian and military targets in Ukraine.

“We hope the number won’t surpass the two thousand launched at us this October, and that our capacity to intercept them will continue to improve,” he said.

Stupak explained how this can become possible.

“Ukraine is testing its own drones, capable of automatically targeting and intercepting Shahed drones — even when they fly at speeds of over 150 km/h, approaching 200 km/h — using artificial intelligence," he said.

"These drones will destroy them. Videos of training sessions and trials with these Ukrainian drones are publicly available.”

Russia manufactures about 500–600 Shaheds each month and, since September, has been employing other types of drones in its attacks on Ukraine, military expert Serhiy Beskrestnov (Flash call name) told Radio NV.

Defense Express editor-in-chief Oleh Katkov also spoke with Radio NV, describing how Russia has modified Iranian Shahed drones to make them even more dangerous.

More than 2,000 Shaheds were launched by Russia in October, with approximately 170,000 components sourced from companies in China, Europe, and the United States, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted earlier.

He urged Ukraine’s allies to limit Russia's drone manufacturing capabilities.
