The international “Coalition of the willing” has failed to reach a consensus on the potential deployment of troops to Ukraine following the end of active hostilities, Austrian Kurier outlet wrote on Sept. 4.
The coalition includes 35 countries in total.
Negotiations revealed numerous unresolved issues, stemming largely from domestic political complications in several participating countries. Notably, opposition forces in France have spoken out against sending a peacekeeping mission to Ukrainian territory.
Despite the deadlock, French President Emmanuel Macron said after the meeting that 26 nations had expressed readiness to support security guarantees for Ukraine.
Their involvement could take the form of land, sea, or air presence immediately following a ceasefire, or direct support to the Ukrainian military.
