Ukrainian drones trigger massive fires in Crimea and at Yaroslavl refinery - video

Port in Kerch also came under attack. Local residents reported a fire breaking out on the premises.

Satellite data showed that a fire also occurred at the 330 kV Simferopol electrical substation and in the area of a mobile gas turbine power plant.

A fire was also recorded on the territory of the Hvardiiske airbase in temporarily occupied Crimea.

In the Russian city of Yaroslavl, an oil refinery was hit. The attack resulted in a massive fire.

On July 5, the Financial Times, citing data from the Polish analytical group Rochan Consulting, reported that since the beginning of 2026, Russian oil refineries have been struck at least 194 times — 11 times more than in the same period in 2025.

On June 18, Moscow came under a massive drone attack; explosions were heard, footage of large-scale fires was published online.

Soon after, Ukrainian Defense Forces confirmed a repeated strike on Moscow's largest oil refinery, located in the Kapotnya district — just 15 kilometers from the Kremlin. Fires broke out in at least five locations at the plant. This was the second attack in just two days: on June 16, Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) drones damaged the "heart of the plant" — the key primary oil refining unit. The Moscow refinery had already been forced to suspend operations following the first attack.

AFU General Staff clarified that the June 18 attack on the Moscow refinery damaged a complex oil refining unit, three RVS-10000 reservoirs, and one RVS-30000 reservoir.

Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) concluded that the Ukrainian strikes on Moscow exposed vulnerabilities in Russian air defenses, and so-called "military correspondents" began openly criticizing the Russian authorities following the attacks.
