Russian Shahed drone strike damages Konotop high-rise, city faces blackout

At least three people were injured and parts of the city were left without power after Russian forces Shahed drones struck a high-rise and a private home in Konotop, Sumy Oblast, Mayor Artem Semenikhin reported on June 8.

The victims were rushed to intensive care. A search and rescue operation is underway at the site of the attack, as more people may still be trapped under the rubble.

On June 4, Russian forces attacked Konotop with drones. That strike knocked out the city's water supply, caused partial power outages, and damaged a residential building. According to Semenikhin, five people, including three children, were injured in that attack.

Overnight on May 20, Russia launched a massive attack on Konotop using attack UAVs. One of the Shahed drones struck a five-story building, causing three floors to collapse. A 94-year-old woman was killed, and 11 others were injured in the blast.
