The North Slobozhanskyi sector (Sumy Oblast, bordering Kursk Oblast) has become a flashpoint of intense combat.
As of the morning of Feb. 26, the General Staff reported that defenders in the North Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions repelled 12 Russian assaults over the past 24 hours.
The enemy continues to pummel Ukrainian border regions with airstrikes, launching three assaults using nine guided aerial bombs. Additionally, Russian forces conducted 103 shelling attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements in the sector, ten of which with multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS).
The North Slobozhanskyi direction was officially introduced into General Staff reports on June 16, 2025, following a significant escalation of Russian activity along the Sumy Oblast border.
