Law enforcement launched a pre-trial investigation into a terrorist act after an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated at a police station in Dnipro on the evening of Feb. 23, the Prosecutor General's Office reported on Feb. 24.

Explosion occurred at approximately 8:50 p.m. While the blast miraculously caused no casualties, the shockwave severely damaged the administrative building, shattering windows and wrecking a nearby parked vehicle.

Under the guidance of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Prosecutor's Office, investigators from Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) immediately initiated a pre-trial investigation into the brazen terrorist attack.

Hunting law enforcement across Ukraine

This bombing is part of a broader, escalating shadow war. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko warned earlier on Feb. 23 that Ukraine is in an "active phase" of terrorist attacks orchestrated by Russian special services specifically to target law enforcement officers.

Underscoring this dark reality, another brutal explosion tore through an abandoned gas station in Mykolaiv on Feb. 23, severely injuring seven patrol police officers. Two of the victims remain in critical condition as doctors fight to save their lives.
