Explosions rock Russian city of Syzran near major oil refinery - video

The first explosions rang out at around 3 a.m. local time as drones attacked Syzran in Russia's Samara Oblast, where Syzran oil refinery is located, Russian Telegram channel Shot reported on April 22, citing local residents.

Kurumoch airport in Samara introduced the Carpet plan, which restricts the arrival and departure of flights, due to the UAV attack.

A video of drones flying over houses in Syzran appeared online, with the sounds of air defense audible in the footage, Astra Telegram channel noted.

The local oil refinery is located three kilometers away from the determined geolocation, according to Astra data.

An entrance of a residential building partially collapsed as a result of the UAV attack, Samara Oblast Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev stated. Search and rescue services are working at the scene.

Four people, including a child, were rescued from the rubble, he clarified.

Air defense "shot down" 155 drones over Kursk, Samara, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Saratov, Penza, Ulyanovsk, Volgograd, and Rostov oblasts, as well as over Kuban region, Crimea, and the Black Sea overnight, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed.

Drones attacked Samara Oblast on April 18. Novokuibyshevsk and Syzran oil refineries were hit at that time, fires broke out there.
