Finland’s Stubb meets Trump to discuss Ukraine and NATO ties

Finnish President Alexander Stubb will meet with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, Yle media outlet reported on Oct. 7.

The working visit will last from Oct. 9 to Oct. 10. The White House earlier confirmed the Finnish president’s visit.

As of the schedule, the meeting will take place at 3:00 p.m. Washington time (10:00 p.m. Kyiv time).

Stubb said that a number of issues need to be discussed, adding that his previous talks with Trump had focused on Russia’s war in Ukraine and NATO.

The Finnish Presidential office clarified that the talks will focus on bilateral relations between Finland and the United States, trade and economic cooperation, and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will also attend the meeting.

The last meeting between Stubb and Trump took place at the White House on Aug. 19. At that time, Stubb praised President Trump for the progress made in negotiations aimed at resolving the war launched by Russia against Ukraine.
