Russian missiles targeted Ukraine, entering Lviv Oblast and heading toward the city of Stryi, Ukrainian Air Force reported on Dec. 13.

Missiles entered Lviv Oblast from the north and caused explosions near Stryi.

In response, Poland activated its air force, deploying fighter jets and placing air defense systems on high alert.

The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces confirmed this, citing "all available forces and resources" mobilized to counter the threat.

Poland has put ground-based air defense and radar systems on high alert due to the ongoing Russian strikes, which include ballistic and cruise missiles along with drones.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously requested Poland's assistance in intercepting missiles near Striy to protect critical infrastructure, namely gas storage facilities.

This attack follows an overnight assault by Russian drones and a morning barrage of missiles, including Kalibr missiles launched from the sea, Kh-101 from Tu-95MS bombers, and MiG-31K aircraft having been deployed.
