Ukraine's National Police will step up security measures to ensure public safety during Easter celebrations, spokesperson Yulia Hirdevelis told Interfax-Ukraine on April 17.

Police patrols will be stationed closer to places of worship and may conduct spot checks of citizens' belongings.

She highlighted the measures to maintain order near churches, on streets, and along highways.

She noted that some restrictions remain in place under martial law. In particular, Easter services will follow a schedule adapted to the national curfew.

“We urge people not to ignore air raid alerts," she warned.

"The enemy is treacherous and may attempt anything — even on Easter Sunday.”

In 2025, Easter falls on April 20. This year, the holiday will be celebrated simultaneously by both Orthodox and Catholic Christians — a rare occurrence due to differences in calendars used to determine the Easter date.
