Russia loses another 1,250 soldiers in Ukraine over past 24 hours — General Staff

Russia’s losses in Ukraine
In early January 2025, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense reported that 430,790 Russian invaders had been eliminated in 2024 alone — equivalent to nearly 36 motorized rifle divisions of Russia’s ground forces.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at the Munich Security Conference on Feb. 15 that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin had lost nearly 250,000 soldiers in the war against Ukraine, with over 610,000 more wounded.
On Feb. 24, AFU Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that in three years of full-scale war, the irrecoverable losses of the Russian army amount to approximately 250,000 troops.
On Feb. 27, former CIA Director David Petraeus told NV that the Russian army has suffered so much damage that any other country would already need a break from fighting.
"When a country has lost 800,000 of its soldiers, around 500,000 of whom have not returned from the battlefield — either killed or seriously wounded — that is such an overwhelming loss that I struggle to grasp it," he said.
On March 3, Deputy Chief of Ukraine’s Military Intelligence (HUR) Major General Vadym Skibitskyi reported that North Korean units, deployed to fight for Russia, suffered significant losses in their first phase of engagement. Of the 11,000 North Korean troops, 4,000 were killed, prompting Russian forces to withdraw them for recovery and rest.
