Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on Ukraine overnight, using 156 strike UAVs of the Shahed and Gerbera types, as well as other models, Air Force reported on Jan. 12.

About 110 of the drones were of Shahed type.

Ukrainian air defense neutralized 135 Russian drones across northern, southern, eastern, and central oblasts of the country.

The attack resulted in 16 drone strikes at 11 locations. In addition, debris from intercepted drones fell at two other sites.

The Air Force said that as of 8 a.m., the Russian attack was still ongoing, with several enemy drones remaining in Ukrainian airspace.

Overnight, Russia struck Odesa, damaging an infrastructure facility and residential buildings. Parts of the Peresypskyi district were left without electricity.

In Kyiv, a fire broke out in a non-residential building following a Shahed drone attack, and the blast wave shattered windows in a nearby apartment building.
