Russian ballistic missiles strike industrial plant in Kryvyi Rih, injuring two

The Russian troops targeted Kryvyi Rih with at least two ballistic missiles.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 21, Russian forces struck Kryvyi Rih’s largest shopping and entertainment complex, Sonyachna Halereya, with two strike drones. That attack killed 16 civilians and injured 140 others.

Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Vyhivskyi stated that law enforcement authorities served a notice of suspicion to the director of a supermarket located inside the targeted shopping mall.

"Despite warnings from local authorities to halt commercial operations during air raid alerts, the facility continued functioning. A significant number of the deceased were discovered right there," Vyhivskyi reported.

On Aug. 24, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) reported that search-and-rescue efforts were ongoing for a fourth consecutive day among the mall's debris, with three people, including a child, listed as missing.

On Aug. 25, emergency teams concluded search-and-rescue operations at the strike site. First responders cleared approximately 5,000 square meters (53,800 square feet) of collapsed structural debris and fully surveyed the entirety of the affected area.

The search-and-rescue mission brought together emergency response teams deployed from Sumy, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, Poltava, Odesa, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, and Kirovohrad oblasts.
