Russian drone strike shatters elementary school in Sumy

A Russian attack drone hit the roof of Elementary School No. 14 in Sumy. All windows, doors, stained-glass panes, and classroom equipment were damaged.

The school’s principal, Tetiana Sahaidachna, said repairs on the roof had just been completed two days earlier after a previous strike on March 24.

Photos from the school show classrooms and hallways littered with shards of glass.

“Cribs are in ruins too," correspondents wrote.

"Mattresses torn apart by the blast wave are scattered across the school grounds.”

Students and preschoolers attend the school in hybrid mode, so lessons were ongoing there. Fortunately, since the strike occurred at night, no children were hurt. The security guard was in the shelter at the time of the explosion.

Three Russian drones struck Sumy overnight. One of them hit the school. Two civilians were also injured.

The attack damaged six apartment buildings and two non-residential structures across the city.
