Russian forces struck a gas distribution station in Odesa Oblast with drones overnight, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on Aug. 20.

In his post on telegram, he detailed Russian strikes on Ukraine over the past day.

"14 people were wounded in the attack on Okhtyrka in Sumy Oblast, including three children aged five months, four, and six," Zelenskyy wrote.

"In Kostiantynivka, Donetsk Oblast, a bomb strike damaged five apartment buildings; at least three people are believed to be under the rubble and a rescue operation is under way. Chernihiv, Poltava, and Kharkiv oblasts also came under fire this night."

“All of this is demonstrative strikes that only confirm the need to increase pressure on Moscow—new sanctions and tariffs—until diplomacy is fully working,” the president concluded.

He added that Ukraine, together with Europe and the United States, is working on robust security guarantees for a lasting peace.

Earlier on Aug. 20, reports said Russian forces struck Izmail in Odesa Oblast with Shahed drones, igniting a large fire at a fuel-and-energy infrastructure site; one person was injured.

Overall, overnight the Russian army attacked Ukraine with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 93 strike UAVs. Air defense shot down one missile and neutralized 62 drones over the north and east of the country.
