Russian forces advanced near Platonivka and in the city of Myrnohrad in Donetsk Oblast, while Ukrainian Defense Forces cleared an enemy incursion area near Bilytske in the Pokrovsk district, the DeepState reported on Feb. 17.

Analysts also clarified the situation in the town of Rodynske in Donetsk Oblast.

Earlier, DeepState said Russian forces had occupied the village of Rivne in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk Oblast and had also advanced in the cities of Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad and Rodynske.

DeepState also reported that the defense of Myrnohrad is nearing collapse, with the city being overrun by occupying forces. At the same time, Russian infantry movements into northern Pokrovsk have been recorded.

The 7th Air Assault Corps said Russian troops have stepped up efforts to encircle Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad with so-called “pincer” maneuvers. According to Ukrainian forces, the attackers have intensified pressure from the settlements of Kotlyne and Rodynske.

On Feb. 6, Volodymyr Polovyi, head of communications for the 7th Air Assault Corps, said Russian forces had seized key high ground in Myrnohrad and Pokrovsk, significantly complicating logistics for Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
