The meeting will build upon the London summit held earlier this month, where Starmer introduced the concept of a "coalition of the willing" to bolster Ukraine's defense and long-term security.
"The prime minister will host the second meeting of leaders from the ‘coalition of the willing,’ continuing discussions from his Lancaster House summit," Pares stated, referring to the gathering held in London on March 2.
According to reports, NATO and Commonwealth leaders willing to provide military support for Ukraine will take part in the meeting, though the list of participating countries has not yet been disclosed.
"We remain focused on supporting Ukraine, ensuring its sovereignty and security, and working toward long-term and sustainable peace," Pares emphasized.
At the March 2 London summit, European leaders discussed strategies for ending hostilities in Ukraine. Starmer announced that the UK, alongside other European partners, would work with Kyiv on a plan for ceasefire negotiations before presenting it to the United States.
Following the summit, Starmer pledged that Britain would strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities and, if a peace agreement is reached, would consider sending troops as part of a stabilization effort. He also confirmed an agreement allowing Ukraine to purchase 5,000 air defense missiles.
On March 5, British officials met with representatives from about 20 countries interested in joining the "coalition of the willing", particularly those considering sending peacekeeping forces to Ukraine. The coalition aims to maintain military aid, apply economic pressure on Russia, and enhance Ukraine’s long-term defense capabilities to prevent future aggression.
While the exact role of the coalition remains under discussion, the initiative signals a continued effort to rally international support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and security as the war continues.
