Two Ukrainian tennis players will sit inside the WTA top 10 simultaneously for the first time in history, official tour ranking projections confirmed on Sept. 8.

Twenty-four-year-old Marta Kostyuk will make her career debut inside the world’s top 10 when the governing body updates its standings.

The milestone comes despite her three-set defeat to Linda Noskova in the US Open round of 16. Kostyuk will remain mathematically untouchable for her closest pursuers — Sorana Cirstea, Iva Jovic, and Naomi Osaka — all of whom also exited during the fourth round of the American major.

In the updated WTA rankings set for release on Sept. 14, Kostyuk will climb to a career-high world No. 10 with 3,980 points.

The ascent marks the first time in professional tennis history that two Ukrainian women will feature in the global top 10 at the same time. National No. 1 Elina Svitolina now occupies the world No. 7 spot and is mathematically guaranteed to remain at least world No. 8 following the conclusion of the US Open.
