Ukraine’s Targan robotic system enters service with Defense Forces

According to Ukrainian officers, the Targan is compact, allowing it to be transported in a van or on a car trailer, while still capable of carrying up to 200 kg (440 lbs) of cargo. Depending on the Defense Forces' needs, it can transport ammunition, food, or equipment.

The Targan is equipped with a silent electric motor and large rubber wheels. Its design enables it to move stealthily across the battlefield over long distances, the Ministry of Defense concluded.

Ukraine’s growing arsenal of domestic weapons and technology

On Oct. 2, Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced that the country plans to ramp up weapons production by 2025, focusing on drones, long-range weapons, and ballistic missiles.

On the same day, Umerov mentioned that there will be "plenty of information" about Ukraine's major missile program by the end of 2024 or early 2025.

On Oct. 5, it was revealed that from January to September 2024, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense codified and approved over 900 new weapons and military equipment models, 600 of which were domestically produced.

Deputy Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Ivan Havryliuk noted that Ukrainian manufacturers have not only boosted production volumes but have also created new high-tech weapons, which are playing an increasingly important role on the battlefield.

On Oct. 21, the Ministry of Defense confirmed the codification and approval of the Ukrainian-made “Varan” buggy, designed for personnel transport, evacuation of the wounded, and delivery of ammunition to frontline positions.
