Ukrainian air defense forces shot down or jammed 111 out of 147 strike drones launched by Russian forces in a massive overnight barrage, the Air Force reported on Aug. 18.

"As of 8:00 a.m., air defense intercepted or suppressed 111 enemy UAVs — including Shahed, Gerbera, and other types — across northern, southern, and eastern sectors of the country," the Air Force statement read.

Military officials reported enemy drone impacts across 19 locations, alongside falling wreckage confirmed at three separate sites.

The Air Force cautioned that the drone attack was ongoing and urged residents to observe safety protocols.

Overnight into Aug. 18, Russian forces targeted Ukraine with a combination of Shahed drones and guided aerial bombs (KABs), striking areas in Kyiv Oblast, Zaporizhzhya, and Zaporizhzhya Oblast. In Kyiv, air raid alerts sounded four separate times overnight due to recurring drone threats.

Local Telegram channels reported that a fire broke out in Brovary, Kyiv Oblast, following the large-scale drone strikes.
