Ukraine extends basic military training to 51 days - AFU Commander-in-Chief

He explained this decision in his Facebook post.

“The quality of soldier training determines the effectiveness of our units, the number of enemies neutralized, and the survival of the soldier himself," Syrskyi wrote.

"The duration of basic general training will be increased to 51 days (compared to 49 now). Two additional days will be devoted to teaching service members how to counter enemy strike UAVs.”

According to him, this is one of the updates in the sixth edition of the basic training program, which is nearing completion.

“We are developing basic training in the rear zones of brigades,"  he added. 

"We recognize the gravity of the situation and are enhancing the psychological preparedness of service members, which is an integral part of their combat readiness.”

The Commander-in-Chief also highlighted that the concentration of soldiers and military equipment, as well as housing troops in tent camps, is strictly prohibited.

Syrskyi also noted that the area of training will now fall under the responsibility of the newly appointed Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Ihor Skibyuk.
