Ukraine hits two Russian oil refineries up to 1,300 km behind front lines - video

Ukrainian forces hit the Slavneft-YANOS refinery in Yaroslavl - direct hits and three distinct fire outbreaks were confirmed on the facility's premises.

The strike was carried out by special operations units of the Military Intelligence (HUR) in coordination with other components of the Defense Forces, HUR reported.

Slavneft-YANOS ranks among the aggressor state's largest oil refining enterprises, supplying fuel to Russia's Central and Northwestern Federal Districts, including Moscow and the surrounding region. The plant's design capacity reaches up to 15 million metric tons of crude oil annually.

On Aug. 5, Defense Forces targeted the Bashneft-Novoil refinery in Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan. Preliminary reports indicated strikes damaged a combined technology unit and an L-35-11/1000 catalytic reforming unit, triggering a fire on the refinery grounds, General Staff reported.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy specified that the targeted refinery in Bashkortostan is located over 1,300 kilometers from the front line, while the Yaroslavl plant sits nearly 700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

Additionally, General Staff reported the destruction of two ground-based signal repeaters used for controlling Shahed drones near Zaliznyi Port in Kherson Oblast and Olenivka in occupied Crimea.

On Aug. 6, reports confirmed that Ukrainian FP-1 drones struck the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery. Yaroslavl Oblast Governor Mikhail Yevrayev claimed local forces had "repelled the most massive UAV attack" in the region.

Reports of a drone strike on Ufa first surfaced on Aug. 5, with footage published online showing active fires across the refinery complex.
