The Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) of Ukraine successfully targeted and downed a Russian Mi-28 "Night Hunter" attack helicopter with a drone in Russia's Belgorod Oblast, USF Commander Robert "Madyar" Brovdi reported on July 15.

The helicopter was intercepted and brought down at around 10 a.m. by soldiers of the "Rarog" 427th Separate Drone Systems Brigade near the settlement of Vyazovoe, Belgorod Oblast.

Military expert Oleksiy Melnyk noted in an interview with NV that the Mi-28 is one of the heavy helicopters that poses the most severe threat to the Ukrainian military.

"The Mi-28 has proven to be highly effective in nighttime conditions," Melnyk stated.

The helicopter is equipped with a specialized integrated avionics suite, and the pilots' helmets are outfitted with advanced night-vision targeting displays. Due to these capabilities, this specific modification of the aircraft is widely known as the "Night Hunter." Its specialized design for low-altitude night operations makes visual detection and interception by Ukrainian defense units exceptionally difficult.
