He made this statement following Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s meeting with the U.S. delegation in the Kremlin.
Russia initially received a document with 27 points, which the Russian side reviewed, although “we did not work on the wording and had no discussions with our American colleagues about it.” Later, Ushakov said, Russia received four more documents — and all of them were discussed at the meeting as well.
“We agreed with our American colleagues that we would not disclose the substance of the talks that took place," he claimed.
"This is entirely logical — the negotiations were completely closed and classified.”
Putin’s meeting with Witkoff and Kushner in the Kremlin
On Dec. 2, a meeting was held in the Kremlin between Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff, and U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. It began at around 6:40 p.m. and lasted nearly five hours.
Commenting on the Russian dictator’s talks with the U.S. delegation, Putin’s aide Ushakov said that the parties had not yet reached a compromise on the peace plan.
“There is no compromise version of a plan on Ukraine yet; some of the American proposals are acceptable to Russia, some do not suit us,” he said.
Putin’s aide also stated that the territorial issue “is the most important one” both for Russia and for the Americans.
According to him, during the meeting the parties did not go through the peace plan’s “exact wording,” but “discussed the substance.”
He also stressed that “contacts between Russia and the United States will continue.”
