He highlighted the importance of this step - namely, Kursk operation - to prevent buffer zones creation on Ukraine's territory.
“The key to implementing this second point of the Victory Plan is the successful continuation of operations by Ukraine's Defense and Security Forces in designated areas of enemy territory to prevent buffer zones on our soil,” he said.
Zelenskyy added that the plan also involves irreversibly strengthening the positions of Ukraine's forces and destroying Russia’s offensive potential in occupied Ukrainian territories.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Kursk Operation began on Aug. 6, with Zelenskyy officially confirming it on Aug. 12. The operation's goal is to free Ukraine’s border areas from Russian forces, which have been regularly shelling Sumy Oblast.
As of October, Russia has gradually reinforced its presence in the area, with Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi statement on Oct. 10 that Russia relocated 50,000 troops to Kursk Oblast from other fronts.
