Obtaining licenses from the USA for the production of air defense systems and the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara were discussed at a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on June 18.

"We discussed the things we agreed to implement with our partners during the G7 summit," he wrote.

"The most important thing is working to strengthen our defense and obtain licenses from the USA to produce air defense systems."

He and Rutte also discussed replenishing the PURL program with new contributions, which provides for the procurement of American weapons for Ukraine. Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of the rapid supply of anti-ballistic missiles.

"I thanked him for the invitation to the NATO summit, which will be held in Ankara. We will work to make it effective for the defense of Ukraine," Zelenskyy wrote.

He earlier reported that Ukraine will participate in the 2026 NATO summit in Ankara.
