Russia’s withdrawal from Kherson shows that they have “some real problems”, according to U.S. President Joe Biden, the BBC reported on Nov. 10.
The Russia-Ukraine conflict won’t be resolved until Putin leaves Ukraine, the president added, and congratulated Ukraine on the recent liberation of Mykolaiv Oblast. He also reassured Ukrainian officials that the United States will not be putting pressure on Ukraine to negotiate or compromise with Putin’s regime.e
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu ordered a retreat from the western bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast, including the city of Kherson, on Nov. 9.
Earlier, Kherson regional councilmember Serhiy Khlan reported that all the bridges in the western part of Kherson Oblast and in Kherson city itself have been destroyed.
Russian forces also began to remove Russian flags from administrative buildings across the city.
Settlements as close as only 15 km from Kherson city were reported as liberated on Nov. 10. However, presidential advisor Mykhailo Podolyak stated that he believes Russia would not withdraw without a fight.
