Ukraine has received four more American HIMARS artillery rocket systems from the United States, Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov reported on Twitter on Aug. 1.
The official thanked US President Joe Biden, his American colleague Lloyd Austin and the American people for strengthening the Ukrainian army. He also stressed that the defenders of Ukraine have proven that they can use these systems effectively.
"The sound of the HIMARS volley has become a top hit of this summer at the front lines," the minister noted.
Washington announced the allocation of a new package of military aid to Ukraine with four more HIMARS.
The US chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Mark Milley, said on July 20 that the United States and its allies would transfer more than 20 rocket launchers to Ukraine. As of July 20, there were already 12 HIMARS systems in Ukraine.
Milley also noted that the US had already trained 200 Ukrainian soldiers to work with American rocket systems, and the training was ongoing. With the help of HIMARS, defenders of Ukraine deliver targeted strikes on Russian control points, enemy ammunition, and fuel depots.
